What you get

By the end of this playbook, your team can:

Set a goal and funding type your real network can actually hit

Write a pitch, video and giving ladder framed around impact, not perks

Run Meta ads only once traction makes every dollar work harder

Score your live campaign against the patterns behind real LaunchGood wins

Step 01

Launch Setup

Goal, funding type and duration, decided deliberately.

Perception is set before a single dollar comes in. A $7K goal that raises $10K reads as a huge win; a $20K goal that raises the same $10K reads as a shortfall. It isn't a question of how much LaunchGood can raise for you — it's how much you can raise on LaunchGood.

Aim low, land high

Add roughly 20% buffer to the real need for fees and costs, choose All-or-Nothing so the stakes force the push, and run ~30 days starting Mon–Wed and finishing Friday or Sunday night.

Checklist

  • Goal set to real need plus ~20% for fees and costs
  • All-or-Nothing chosen unless partial funding still delivers impact
  • Duration set to roughly 30 days
  • Start day falls Mon–Wed, when you can push hard
  • End day lands Friday or Sunday night

Do

  • Set the goal your real network can realistically hit
  • Use All-or-Nothing to create genuine urgency
  • Plan hardest effort into the first and last three days

Don't

  • Pick a headline goal for ambition's sake
  • Default to Partial Funding without a reason
  • Launch on a day you can't be present to promote

KPIs to track

  • % funded in first 48 hours

    Whether launch sequencing worked

  • Goal vs. network size

If the target is realistically reachable

  • Average gift size

Whether the ladder matches your audience

Troubleshooting

  • Campaign stalls at 10–15% funded

Goal is too large for the network — recalibrate and relaunch the inner-circle push

  • Momentum dies mid-campaign

Duration is too long for the story — shorten and add a deadline moment

Step 02

Pitch, Video & Giving Ladder

What convinces someone to give — and how to price the ask.

People give from the heart, not the brain. Most donors only scan, so headers and images carry the story. Campaigns with a video raise roughly twice as much, and the first ten seconds decide whether anyone keeps watching.

Sell impact, not perks

Frame each tier as impact — “$40 feeds 10 children” — rather than a product. One masjid campaign sold a $1,000 “Barakah Benefactor” tier to 40 people.

Checklist

  • Story written to make the reader feel, not just informed
  • Real photos, real names and links to social pages for legitimacy
  • One image every 1–2 paragraphs with specific headers
  • Video under 60 seconds with a face on camera
  • Full ladder offered: $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000+

Do

  • Frame every tier as tangible impact
  • Cover both small gifts and major tiers
  • Open the video on the stake, not the org name

Don't

  • Rely on one generic “any amount” button
  • Write long unbroken paragraphs
  • Publish a video over a minute long

KPIs to track

  • Video watch-through rate

Whether the first 10 seconds hold

  • Tier claim distribution

    Which impact framing actually sells

  • Page conversion rate

How persuasive the pitch is on its own

Troubleshooting

  • Traffic arrives but few give

Pitch is informing rather than moving — rewrite around one beneficiary and one outcome

  • Only the lowest tier sells

Higher tiers lack impact framing — attach a concrete outcome to each one

Step 03

Meta Ads — The LaunchGood Way

Ads accelerate a campaign already moving; they rarely start one.

People won't donate if they don't see traction. LaunchGood's own guidance is to reach at least 20% funded with 25+ donors before spending, and ideally 40–60% funded with ~50 donors. The more social proof on the page, the harder every ad dollar works.

Three-tier audience stack

Warm/network 60%, lookalike 25%, cold 15% — with your current donor list uploaded first, since it outperforms a lookalike of general page followers.

Checklist

  • 20%+ funded with 25+ donors before any spend
  • LaunchGood pixel requested, or your own Pixel ID pasted into Edit → Enhance
  • Value-based conversion event firing on the donate action
  • Starting budget set between $250 and $1,000
  • Objective matched to average gift size and page events

Do

  • Retarget page visitors who didn't give
  • Lead with proof over pain — it outperforms by ~1.6x
  • Keep one ask per ad: one beneficiary, one outcome, one figure

Don't

  • Launch ads at 0% funded and burn budget
  • Spend without a pixel and events firing
  • Over-layer cold interest stacks and shrink delivery

KPIs to track

  • Cost per donation

Whether ad spend is genuinely efficient

  • Return on ad spend

How much each dollar returns in gifts

  • Retargeting conversion rate

    How well warm traffic closes

Troubleshooting

  • Clicks are cheap but donations don't come

Optimising for traffic, not value — switch to a value-based conversion event

  • Delivery is tiny and costs spike

Audience over-layered — reduce to 2–3 broad interest terms

Step 04

Momentum & Stewardship

What real LaunchGood wins have in common.

Winning campaigns pair clarity and community with consistency and amplification: tangible giving levels plus early support from people who already trust you, then regular updates across the full month with competitions, Event Mode or regional networks layered on.

Patterns from real wins

A $160K medical fund raised $70,000 in the first 12 hours by asking the inner circle before going public; a $1.26M masjid build combined a line-item cost breakdown with live Event Mode and the Ramadan Leaderboard.

Checklist

  • Inner circle messaged 24–48h before going public
  • Event Mode turned on for any live gathering
  • Active LaunchGood competition joined for leaderboard placement
  • Updates and thank-yous posted on a steady rhythm all month
  • Peer fundraisers hosted under shared branding where relevant

Do

  • Aim for 20–30% funded in the first 48 hours
  • Post photo updates every few days
  • Use competitions and media as amplification

Don't

  • Go public cold with no traction
  • Post once at launch, then go silent
  • Rely on a single campaign page alone

KPIs to track

  • Daily donor count

Whether momentum is holding or fading

  • Update cadence

How consistently supporters hear from you

  • Peer fundraiser count

How far the campaign spreads beyond you

Troubleshooting

  • Strong launch, dead middle weeks

No update calendar — schedule a post every few days for the full 30

  • Only close contacts give

No amplification layer — add peer fundraisers, Event Mode and competitions

Step 05

Campaign Health Check

Score your campaign — most stalls come from 3–4 structural gaps.

None of these gaps are about effort or intentions — they're structural. A charity team juggling operations rarely has time to also run pixel setup, ad structuring and a daily update calendar. That's usually the actual bottleneck, not the cause itself.

Quick self-score

0–2 gaps is a strong campaign; 3–4 gaps means meaningful money left on the table; 5+ gaps means the campaign is underperforming its potential.

Checklist

  • Realistic goal with the right funding type
  • Video under 60s with a face on camera
  • Full giving ladder framed as impact
  • Inner circle first, 20–30% funded in 48h
  • Pixel installed and events firing before ads start

Do

  • Score honestly against all eight signals
  • Fix tracking before increasing spend
  • Rebuild the giving ladder before rewriting the pitch

Don't

  • Assume the cause is the problem
  • Start Meta ads before hitting 20% funded
  • Leave the update calendar to improvisation

KPIs to track

  • Number of gaps scored

How much upside is still unclaimed

  • % of goal reached

Whether the structure is working overall

  • Donor repeat rate post-campaign

If stewardship carried past the finish

Troubleshooting

  • Campaign hit goal but donors never returned

No post-campaign stewardship plan — build the retention sequence next

  • Five or more gaps identified

Structural, not creative — book a campaign audit and fix the sequence in order

Who it's for

Built for teams who need a system, not more tactics.

  • Charities, mosques and community organisations running LaunchGood campaigns

  • Teams planning a Ramadan or emergency-response campaign

  • Campaign leads deciding whether Meta ads are worth running yet
